St Martin De Belleville

About

A village resort situated at an altitude of 1 450m, Saint Martin de Belleville combines the art of living in the mountains with the pleasure of intense skiing on the 3 Vallées ski area.

At an altitude of 1 450m, Saint Martin is one of La Vallée des Belleville‘s resorts, a valley forms, with the valleys of Méribel and Courchevel, the Les 3 Vallées ski area. An internationally famous ski area, known by the most demanding skiers for its extensive domain (600km of pistes), the variety of its itineraries and the quality of its equipment. Connected to this exceptional ski area, Saint Martin has earned its label « the village of Les 3 Vallées ». A village known to those who have chosen to combine great skiing with the art of living.

Neither a postcard village, nor a resort parody, Saint Martin is, above all, loyal to what it was : an authentic Savoyard village, dominated by its church tower, with its winding narrow streets and stone clad farms whose doors open onto vaulted stables. The village is, of course, equipped to welcome its guests, but has lost nothing of its simplicity. The farms have sometimes been transformed into cosy accommodation, the ancient stables into restaurants and the church hosts concerts, but the village soul is still present.

Those looking to discover the mountains other than on the pistes, are not left out. Walks on foot or snowshoes, a dog-sledge getaway, heritage discoveries, shows and torchlight descents are on offer throughout the winter. Not forgetting the musical après-ski concerts in the church. Saint Martin also has a great “terroir” where the names of good restaurants are passed on like well kept secrets. From the farm-inn with its home-produce menus, to the gastronomic restaurant and its two stars, the temptations are numerous. Will you be able to resist?

What we love

St Martin is the prettiest resort in the network and also has access to some of the best slopes in the three valleys circuit.

The village feels authentic and unspoiled with friendly bars and local shops, but it is still sophisticated enough to have some Michelin listed and a three Michelin star restaurant nearby.

St Martin remains peaceful with largely uncluttered slopes and very few lift queues which is why the resort is known as the undiscovered jewel of the Three Valleys.

There are fast lifts too that get you to the slopes of Les Menuires and Meribel.

What needs improving

There could be a bit more of a night life. There are a few jolly local bars, but a lack of busy après ski bars for those who prefer more of an exciting end to their ski day.
